Common Grounds is JDE Peet's approach to coffee sourcing, environmental action and community connection, aimed at improving outcomes for people while reducing our footprint through measurable targets and investments.
At JDE Peet's, we are working to increase the share of responsibly sourced coffee in every cup. In 2025, 88.8% of our green coffee was responsibly sourced, verified under independent schemes.

Responsible sourcing
At JDE Peet’s, Responsibly sourced does not mean or imply the absence of human rights violations or other supply chain risks in connection with the production or supply of coffee or tea. It is about delivering continuous improvement and measurable progress for people, nature and climate. At JDE Peet's we use a risk-based green-coffee HREDD process to identify and address human-rights and environmental impacts through prevention, mitigation, monitoring, communication and remediation where appropriate.”

At JDE Peet’s, coffee and tea are at the heart of everything we do. Towards planet positive
We believe meaningful progress is acheived together. That's why we work across the value chaing to help reduce emissions through collaboration and action. Our approach prioritises absolute emission reductions in line with SBTi requirements, with carbon removals limited to residual emissions under SBTi Net-Zero criteria. Alongside our SBTi-validated Net Zero target for 2050, three new near-term targets - validated in 2024 and including the Forestry Land and Agriculture Guidance (FLAG) targets for forestry, land and agriculture - support emission reduction across scopes 1, 2 and 3.

Inspired by the extraordinary beauty found in nature,we harness its unique and precious richness to create our artful coffee compositions. Through JDE Peet's Common Grounds programme, we are on a journey to reduce our impact on nature, supporting programmes that help protect the ecosystems in which coffee grows
Our Sourcing approach
Our coffee is responsibly sourced. For JDE Peet's and L'OR responsible sourcing is a journey of continuous improvement and measurable progrees for people, nature and climate. It does not imply the absence of human rights issues or supply chain risks. We define "Responsibly sourced" as green coffee volumes that have completed all required Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence (HREDD) steps. For tea, it means third party validation. Preserving Coffee Diversity
The beauty of nature inspires us in our creations, and we are continually looking to blend the most intriguing coffees sourced from different regions. By partnering with World Coffee Research, L’OR supports the research, and enrichment of a diverse variety of coffees across the globe. From supporting farmers to choosing the most fruitful varieties. We do this because we know that a world without coffee diversity is a world without coffee pleasure.
