3. Place a bowl under the machine’s nozzles (where the coffee usually flows out). Do not insert a capsule, and make sure the lever is down.

4. Press the on/off button to turn on the machine. The on/off button will flash slowly to indicate that the machine is preheating.

5. When all the lights on the machine are on continuously, press the lungo button. The water flows through the nozzles. Note: when the internal water circuit is empty, the machine hums. When there is water running through the machine, the buzzing sound is less loud. This is normal.

6. The machine is ready for use when all buttons are lit continuously.

7. Remove the bowl.

8. The machine is now ready for use.

Note: these instructions are also for cleaning the coffee circuit. Repeating these operations every three days ensures optimal coffee quality. Learn how to install and use your machine for the first time in our first-time use guide.

Limescale build-up

If limescale has accumulated in the internal circuits of the coffee machine, it can reduce the temperature of the coffee that flows out. To avoid this, descale your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine regularly. Note: the Lungo and Ristretto buttons will start flashing after brewing a coffee to indicate that it is time to descale your machine. You can find instructions on how to descale in the user manual supplied with your L'OR BARISTA machine, or you can watch the video below. We recommend that you use the L'OR BARISTA CA6530 descaling agent (available soon).

My L'OR BARISTA coffee machine does not dispense the same amount of water as usual. If you notice that your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine dispenses more or less coffee than usual, something may have happened to the settings. To solve the problem yourself:

Setting the coffee quantity

Each type of coffee can be programmed to suit your taste. It is possible that the settings have changed over time.

To set the quantity of coffee to suit your taste:

1. Switch on your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine and wait for the pre-heating time.

2. Fill the water tank.

3. Insert a capsule and lower the lever. Note: insert a L'OR BARISTA double espresso capsule if you want a double espresso or two espressos at the same time.

4. Press and hold the button for the type of coffee you want for 3 seconds. Stop pressing when the button begins to flash rapidly.

5. Your coffee machine will start brewing coffee. Press the button again when the cup contains the amount of coffee you want. The machine is now programmed to dispense this amount of coffee for the type of coffee you have set.

Note: if you press the button for the type of coffee to be set too soon, the machine will program the minimum amount of coffee for that coffee, as you can see in the table below. If you press the button too late, the machine will program the maximum amount of coffee for that coffee.

To reset the coffee quantity of all coffee types:

1. Switch on your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine and wait for the pre-heating time.

2. Simultaneously press and hold the three coffee type buttons (ristretto, espresso and lungo) simultaneously until all three flash.

3. The machine is now reset with the originally programmed coffee quantities.

It may happen that the froth of your L'OR milk frother is not as smooth and creamy as desired. Please note that the milk frother always contains a few drops of milk after preparing the froth. If this is not the problem, the following may be the cause of the situation:

- The metal whisk is not attached: Check that the metal whisk is attached to the shaft at the bottom of the frother. It is not possible to create milk froth without the metal whisk.

- Amount of milk: Align your milk choice to what is detailed inside the frother.

- Type of milk and temperature: The quality of milk froth may differ depending on the type of milk and the brand. We recommend that you use semi-skimmed cow's milk, at refrigerator temperature, to obtain the creamiest milk froth.

- The L'OR milk frother is dirty:

1. Detach the metal whisk and lid.

2. Rinse the inside of the milk container in lukewarm water, be sure not to soak the outside or outside bottom of the frother.

3. Wash the metal whisk and the lid under lukewarm water, or wash them all in the dishwasher.

4. Wipe the base with a clean, damp cloth if necessary.

Check that the metal whisk is securely attached to the shaft. It is not possible to froth milk without the metal whisk. The milk frother must cool down before being used again. The ""on"" button flashes to indicate that the L'OR milk frother needs to cool down before you use it again. Make sure you let it cool for a few minutes. Your water tank may be empty. Please fill the water tank and try again.

Once the pump has stopped, you can have your coffee whenever you want. The drip tray is large enough to catch any drips after making the coffee. If you wish to stop the dripping, you can raise the lever after preparing your coffee.

If the coffee no longer flows normally from your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine, it is possible that the coffee dispensing nozzle is missing or incorrectly installed. Clean & replace the nozzle correctly.

Your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine allows you to adjust and programme the amount of coffee brewed to suit your preference. Each coffee variety button can be programmed to a specific volume. Here’s how to do it:

1. Fill the water tank.

Insert a capsule and press down the lever.

Note: If you wish to adjust the amount for a double-shot capsule, make sure to insert one now.

2. Press and hold the recipe button you want to programme, then release it once it starts flashing rapidly.

3. The machine will now start brewing. Press the same button again when your cup contains the desired amount of coffee.

The selected coffee recipe is now programmed to your preferred quantity.

For the L'OR BARISTA Absolu, you can also reprogramme the 'Intensity Boost' recipes. To do this, follow the same steps above, but press the 'Intensity Boost' button before starting step 3.

The 'Enjoy Over Ice' coffee recipes are not programmable.

Unusual noise

Is the water tank correctly positioned? Is there enough water in the water tank? Do you need to descale the machine? Depending on the brand of capsules, you may hear a different sound. Does your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine making more noise than usual? You may be able to fix this problem yourself in the following situations:

- The water tank is not correctly positioned: Check that the water tank is correctly positioned on the machine.

- The water tank is empty: Your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine hums louder when there is not enough water in the water tank. Fill the water tank with fresh water.

- Air trapped in the water circuit: When there is no more water in the internal circuits of the machine, it produces a lower humming sound. Air may be trapped in the water circuit. To resolve this problem:

1. Switch on the machine.

2. Remove the capsule from the capsule insertion compartment.

3. Press the lungo button to fill the water circuit with water.

Once you have followed these steps, insert a new capsule, and try again.

- Different capsules: Depending on the brand of capsules you use, your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine may produce a different sound.

- Limescale build-up: If limescale has accumulated in the internal circuits of the coffee machine, this can reduce the temperature of the coffee flowing out. To avoid this, descale your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine regularly. Note: the Lungo and Ristretto buttons will start blinking after brewing a coffee to let you know that it is time to descale your machine. You can find instructions on how to descale your coffee maker in the user manual supplied with your L'OR BARISTA® machine, or you can watch the video below. We recommend that you use the L'OR BARISTA CA6530 descaler (available soon).

Temperature

If the temperature of your coffee isn’t as hot as expected, there could be a few simple reasons why. Below are some common causes and helpful tips to ensure your L'OR BARISTA coffee is served at the ideal temperature.

1. Cup size and shape

Thick-walled cups tend to absorb more heat than thin-walled ones. For a hotter result, use a thin-walled cup. Also, try to match the cup size to the amount of coffee being brewed — smaller cups retain heat better when brewing small volumes.

2. Cup and machine temperature

Both your machine and cup can impact the final temperature. To preheat them, run a brewing cycle without a capsule. This simple step helps keep your coffee hotter for longer.

3. Use of cold milk

Adding cold, refrigerated milk can significantly lower the temperature of your drink. To avoid this, try warming the milk before adding it to your coffee.

4. Limescale build-up

Limescale can clog the internal system and affect heating performance. Make sure to descale your machine regularly to maintain optimal temperature and flow.

5. Brewing “Enjoy Over Ice” coffee (Iced Coffee) for the L'OR BARISTA Absolu

The “Enjoy Over Ice” setting is designed to brew at a lower temperature, perfect for iced drinks. During this mode, the machine also extends the brewing time to enhance flavour. As a result, the pump may sound different due to the slower water flow — this is completely normal.

The normal pre-heating time for your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine is 25 to 30 seconds at room temperature. If the warm-up time is longer than usual, one of the following may be the cause:

- Pre-heating time: Warm-up time may vary. A warm-up of less than one minute is normal. If the warm-up time exceeds one minute, something may be wrong. Please contact us.

- Different caps: Coffee preparation time may differ depending on the brand of capsule. This is completely normal and will not affect your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine.

- Limescale build-up: If limescale has accumulated in the internal circuits of the coffee machine, this can reduce the temperature of the coffee that flows out. To avoid this, descale your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine regularly.

Mechanical

If you are unable to open the lever of your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine, one of two situations may be the cause:

- The used capsule drawer is full. If the used capsule drawer is full, you cannot open the lever. Empty the used capsule drawer and try again.

- The capsule insertion compartment is blocked. It may happen that the capsule insertion compartment gets blocked during the preparation of a coffee, which means that your coffee stops flowing while you still hear the pump. Let the machine rest for 45 minutes to an hour, and try to open the lever again. You may need to force it a little.

If you are unable to close the lever of your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine, one of the following may be the cause:

- The used capsule drawer is full. If the used capsule drawer is full, you cannot close the lever of the machine. Empty the used capsule drawer and try again.

- A capsule is stuck. It may happen that a capsule gets stuck in the capsule insertion compartment.

Remove the capsule and insert it again. Follow the steps below if you are unable to remove the capsule:

1. Remove the drip tray and used capsule drawer.

2. Try pushing or pulling the capsule from below.

3. You may need to move the lever slightly.

Do not force the lever if it becomes difficult to close. If you are using compatible plastic capsules, you may need to press harder on the lever to close it than with aluminium capsules.

Please contact us if the problem persists.

Water issues

If your L'OR BARISTA® coffee machine is leaking from the bottom or the front of the machine, you can probably solve the problem yourself by following the steps below.

- The water tank is not properly positioned: If your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine is leaking from the bottom, it is possible that the water tank is not properly positioned. Reposition it and see if it works. It is possible that the water will release some water when you put the tank back in place.

- The coffee dispensing nozzles are not correctly positioned: If your L'OR BARISTA coffee machine is leaking from the coffee dispensing nozzles:

1. Remove the two parts of the coffee dispensing nozzle (the coffee nozzle units and the nozzle cover) by pulling downwards.

2. Reassemble the two parts. Check that the coffee dispensing nozzles are correctly positioned.

3. Put everything back on your L'OR BARISTA machine.

If your machine continues to leak from the front, please contact us.
